Giving back to the people in need

This article is about giving back and helping those that are in need.

Why would I do so?

Well, simply because I can and by the way, so can you !

I wrote an article on gratitude a while back and it has come upon me to revisit that blog entry and reflect on the fact that while I am grateful and I definitely have many things to be grateful about, many of my friends and colleagues are at this very moment going through some very difficult times.

In this particular case I am talking about my Haitian friends that are experiencing emotions that I have never ever had to deal with in my whole life.

It's a tragedy and devastation on such a grand scale that I think that there are no appropriate words to describe the extent of what has just transpired in Haiti.

Can you imagine not knowing whether your mother, father, aunt, sister, cousin, best friend, can you imagine not knowing whether they are alive or dead?

I think that it's the not knowing that would kill me the most. In any case I think that we owe it to ourselves to do something, anything that we can actually to help out those people that are in need.

You can donate to the Red Cross, you can call your friends and family and organize food drives or collect money to give to recognized aid organizations. You can do so many things and deep down we all have the power to do so much.

Do you realize that if each one of us for example just in the city of Montreal, if each one us gave $1 to the Red Cross we would have amassed over $2 million dollars for a great cause and really collectively have contributed to make an incredible impact the likes of which as never been seen before.

It all starts with you. That is really what is great about human kind, if we all work together we can really make amazing things happen and I think that that in itself is worth getting up for every morning.

Every morning you get the chance to shine and to make a difference in the life of someone.

Let's take this opportunity to reflect on the people of Haiti and how we can help.

So just do it...

Imagine if it had happened to you and you were solely dependent on the help of the international community, how would you feel?

Would you like to think that someone would reach out a hand and help you? Well now is your turn.


If anyone has any ideas please contact me as I am trying to put together a plan to do something to come the aid of the people of Haiti, my little contribution to make the world a better place.
